Victory at last away match

Thursday night, the JV Lady Jackets took the very long (15 minute) trip to Clark State for our last away match of the season. We lost the first set by 2 points, but fought back to win the next set. We kept the momentum going to win the next 2 sets. the top performer of the match is Hannah Muckley for her ultimate Utility player performance. She has stepped into several roles as needed this season and it really shows her dedication to the team, especially now that she is filling in as middle blocker for Tiara Coulès, who suffered an ankle injury in the match against Otterbein last week. Our current record is 5-3.

The second set started out slow, but the we turned up the heat to win the set 25-16. We won the third set 25-17 to finish the game. There was a great turnout in the stands of the Callan Athletic Center. It felt great to play on our home turf and have such a great crowd of friends and family cheering us on. Two tough losses for the JV Lady Jackets

This past Tuesday we had a tri-match at Sinclair Community College in Dayton. First we played Sinclair and played really hard, however we couldn't clench the victory. The scores were 24-26 and 13-25. The top performer of the match was Alyssa Smith for stellar defense and passing. Our next match we were up against Indiana Tech JV. We fought hard in the first set. Outside hitter Nikki Seifert made the tough decision to call a touch on the block at set point. Although her honor call resulted in the opponents winning the set, it was a great opportunity to bring glory to God by being honest and remembering everything we do is for Him. Nikki was the top performer of the match for her great offensive plays. Despite these two loses, our outlook is positive and we can't wait for our first home match on Friday.

JV Lady Jackets take a win and a loss at Grace

This past Saturday, we made the four hour trek to Winona Lake, Indiana for a tri-match at Grace College. Our first game was against the home team, Grace, which we defeated in three straight sets. The scores were 25-16, 25-17, 25-18. Our second match was against Ancilla College. We fought hard in the first two sets, however we fell short of victory, losing 17-25 and 16-25. In the third set, we found our intensity and momentum, winning the set 25-22. We brought the same intensity and drive in the fourth set, but in the end, Ancilla won the game 22-25.
I asked Kait Selig, senior right side hitter, how she thought the team did overall. She answered, "We played pretty solid volleyball. Overall, the team atmosphere was positive, the one team just beat us. We know what we have to work on, but Tuesday [tomorrow] we'll be back and better than ever."
This makes our current record 3-1.

Our first scrimmage today went really well! We all had so much fun playing together and think that this season is going to be really great. We can't wait to see what God has in store for us.

On the back of all our jerseys, the verse 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 is printed. It says, "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever." I think this is a great verse for our team to live by. Our goal should be to remember every time we step on the court, everything we do is for Him. We can't wait to continue to play for His glory. Hope to see you at a game!

The 2012 season is here!

Hi everyone!! On behalf of the Cedarville JV volleyball team, I just want to say that we are so excited to see what God has in store for us this season. We can't wait to get back on the court and glorify God by playing the best sport in the world. First, let me quickly introduce myself. I'm Erika Norton, a sophomore journalism major at Cedarville and play defense on the JV team. I will be doing my best to post all the happenings of the JV team, mostly game wrap-ups including results, top performers, and upcoming matches.

That's it for now, more news to come. :)
